Disciplining yourself to do what you

is the highroad  to pride , self-esteem, and personal satisfaction
Margaret Thatcher

- Margret Thatcher
Reflection:
What they mean is that showing yourself to understand the things about the right and wrongs is a good and important thing because you are teaching yourself to be a better person from what you are and that you can take anything and understand anything. It is also trying to say that even though it’s hard to do that well it helps you in life later on and builds up your self-esteem and pride and helps you become a better person

Brad MaGowan, of the Career center at newton north high school in Massachusetts, thinks that working can be a valuable part of a student’s life, if taken on responsibility. “ Your  can derive a great “ in most cases you can acquire a nice dose discipline and a whole new set of skill and experiences.” In addition, your supervisor may school comes first
School work, including homework and studying for test, should always be your top priority. MacGowan caution students who do decide to work, if you are rushing through your assignments… or not studying enough for test because of work, it’s time to cut back or quit and find a less time-consuming job.”

This article was about two grandparents. They had their granddaughter locked up in the bathroom for six years. They only let her out when she needed to go school. They had her in bad condition, she barely had any food. The grandparents can spend up to 15 years in prison.

Voicing your goals to someone else can help you make decisions and figure out your priorities. It can also help you judge whether you can do both-work and study-successfully. To help answer your question, ask yourself:

·         Am I an organized person?
·         What kind of study habits di I have?
·         Do I make good use of my available time?
·         Will I be able to manage my schedule effectively if I take on a part-time job?

Think about the pros and cons of working.on the plus side, a job can teach your about commitment, time management and responsibility and, of course handling money. one the minus side, a job can cut into the time you have for sleeping, studying and socializing.

My strategies for written assignments: I try to outline before I write because otherwise I forget what I am supposed to be talking about. I try not to leave them until the last minute because then I will just goof up the work. A lot of times I just write what I feel.

Teachers like your opinion and if you can find something from the reading or research that relates specifically to your life, they like it even more because it allows you to take ownerships of your work. I write things that I want others to read: not that I have to write because the teachers said so.

How I succeed in team projects: personally, I do not like working on group projects, especially ones that I worked on in high school. However, when it is requires

Like many high school students, you may want –or need- to work part time. Working takes a lot of time and energy, though, so before getting a job, make sure that you think about your ability to handle both work and your education.
Important considerations you have to weigh a number of factors when deciding whether to  take on a part-time job, it's important to get as much information as possible, so you can figure out what choice makes the most sense for you.

Schedule a meeting with your school counselor to discuss the idea of working. talk to you counselor about why you want to work and what types of position your're seeking

successful students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Most teachers want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade.
Successful students reflect well on the efforts or any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same goals – in short, and you’re team

“To know what is right and not do it is the worst cowardice.”
-Confucius

You become the worst kind of coward when you don’t do something right knowing that it is the right thing to do. It makes you look foolish and scared. It wouldn't make sense if you know what the right thing to do is and you decide to do the wrong thing instead. Just make.

The arts
Research indicates that students who participate in the arts often do better in school and on standardized tests. The arts help you recognize patterns, discern differences and similarities, and exercise your mind in unique ways, often outside a traditional classroom setting.

Many colleges require or recommend one or two semesters in the arts. Good choices include studio art, dance, music and drama. Many students have talents and extraordinary abilities in the arts.
Students should look within their own repertoire of talents and identify their artistic abilities and take college classes to develop their talents.

Advanced placement program (AP)

To be sure you are ready to take on college-level work, enroll in the most challenging courses you can in high school, such as honors or AP courses. Research constantly shows that students who score a 3.0 or higher on AP Exam typically experience greater academic success and college graduation rates than students who don’t take AP.

Work hard in your righteous pursuits, and you will reap the benefits of self-fulfillment and job satisfaction. Don’t take shortcuts just to “ger by'" instead, take challenging a difficult roads ( courses) and reach higher mountain peaks of achivement.

“Have the courage to say no. have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life integrity.”
-W. Clement Stone
These three keys can very well help anyone. It is very true these three actions can make sure you stay on the path you desire. I remember a time when my friend want to not do a project we had to do and tried to convince me to just chill out. However I had the courage to say no, do the truthful thing, and chose the right and do the project.

Social studies
You can better understand local and world events that are happening now by studying the culture and history that has shaped them. Here is a suggested course plan:
·        U.S. history (two semesters)
·        U.S. government (one semester)
·        World history or geography (one semester)
·        One additional semester in the above or other areas
Foreign languages

Solid foreign language study shows college you’re willing to stretch beyond the basics. Many colleges require at least two years of study in the same foreign language, and some prefer more.
Learning a foreign language can be a challenge but is exiting. Repetition is the key to learning a language, and having conversations with others speaking the same language is the best way to learn this new language . repetition in a fun way will build your skill thoroughly as you seek to master new languages.

The following subjects and classes are standard fare for success in high school and beyond, whether you plan to attend a four-year or two-year College.
English (language arts)
Take English every year. Traditional courses, such as American and English literature, help you improve your writing skills, reading comprehension and vocabulary.
Math
You need algebra and geometry to succeed on college entrance exams and in college math classes – and in many careers. Take them early on. That way, you’ll be able to enroll in advanced science and math in high school, and show colleges you’re ready for higher-level work.
Most colleges look for students who have taken three years of math in high school. the more competive ones require or recommend four years. Each school has its own program, but some pf the courses typicallly offered are:
  • algebra 1
  • algebra 2
  • geometry
  • trigonometry
  • calculus

‘Tis the set of the sail
Ella Wheeler Wilcox 1916
But not every mind there openeth,
A way, and a way, and a way.
A high soul climbs the highway,
And the low soul gropes the low,
And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.

But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.
one ship east,
and another west,
bye the self-same winds that blow,
and not the gales,
that tells the way we go.
like the winds of the sea
 are the waves of time,
as we journey along through life,
'tis the set of the soul,
that determines the goals,
and not the calm or the strife.

The academic rigor of your high school courses is an important factor in the college admissions process. College admission officers see your high school course schedule as a blueprint of your education. They’re looking for a solid foundation of learning that you can build on in college. To create that foundation, take at least five solid academic classes every semester. Start with the basics and then move on to advanced courses. Challenging yourself is part of what makes school fun; but you need a firm grasp of the fundamentals before going on to more advanced work.

“A man without a goal is like a ship without a rudder.”

-Tomas Carlyle

Reflection: I think this quote means that if you don’t have a goal you won’t go far and you will just end up where ever life takes you. And if you don’t want to be left where ever life leaves you, you must have goals.

IF   THE MAN  HAVE   A GOALS  HE IS  NOT  GOING  TO  FAR  AND  IF THERE GOALS  IS TO KEEP  GOING  FAR IT BECAUSE THEY  THINK THEY ARE  DOING  GOOD  AND  ALWAYS  NEED TO CHOOSE THE  RIGHT  NEVRE  CHOOSE THE  WRONG

Getting the most out of a session
Here are some tips to help your group get the most out of each study session:
·         Decide what you’re going to do in advance.
·         Prepare for the session, so you can make the most of your time together.
·         Take turns teaching, to reinforce your own knowledge.
·         Stick to the session topic.
By supplementing your individual study with a study group, you can reinforce what you’ve learned, deepen your understanding of complex concepts, and maybe even make a few new friends. Remember that a friend is a person who encourages you to do your best and to achieve on a high level, one who pushes you to try a little harder and be a little better. If someone pulls you down the wrong ways of life, then those people are not friends, (they are actually your enemies), and you must avoid them at all cost. Whoever said learning can’t be  fun? learning is enjoyable and exiting when you study with other.

Guidelines for Getting a Group Together
Here are some guidelines for creating and running a study group: How many? Create a group of four to six people. In a larger group, it’s easy for someone to get left out and smaller groups can too easily get off track.
Who? Pick classmates who seem to share your interest in doing well academically. Look for people who stay alert in class, take notes, ask questions and respond to the teacher’s questions. Include someone who understands the material better than you and can explain the concepts and someone who doesn’t understand it as well, to whom you can explain the material.
where? hold study group sessions in a place that is free of distractions and that has room to spread out books and notes. how long? meet for no more than two to three hours as a time. having a time limit helps the group focus. if you know you only have an hour,re more likely to stay on ask. when? to meet regularly, on the same day and time each week. treating the study session as you would other activities helps you to keep to a schedule and ensures that everyone attends

Do the reading.
You need to do more than just read the chapters you are assigned – you’re expected to understand them thoroughly. Here are some tips:
  • ·        Don’t skim. Read all the material carefully.
·        Break up difficult assignments into sections you can digest – chapters, subsections or even paragraphs.
·        Look up any words that you don’t understand.
·        Pause to think about whether you understand the material; ask questions in class about anything that is unclear.
·        Take notes instead of highlighting – this makes you think through and rephrase the key points.
·        Create a summary sheet of what you learn from each assignment you read.
